10 Best Cats for Cuddling | Cats Who Love to Snuggle!

Cats have been stereotyped to not be cuddly and friendly like their frenemies, the dog.  But any cat owner or lover knows that the truth is not always told. Cats are indeed friendly, loyal, and they make some of the best cuddle buddies.

Siamese, Tonkinese, & Burmese

Siamese

Siamese are quite noted for being independent, demanding chatters.  Well, that is true, but you know what else they are? Very affectionate and friendly. They adore attention from their owners; particularly from the one that they choose as their “special owner.”  If a Siamese bonds with you, be ready to have a super affectionate, cuddly companion for a long time.

When I was a child I grew up with Max – my Siamese cat.  He “chose” me as his special owner and slept with me every night.  While sleeping when Max was still a kitten I would often wake up with him suckling on my arm or neck.  When he grew older, he would be ever so happy to see me return home from school or from family vacations and in his elderly years, all he wanted was to lay on my lap or be next to me.  He would purr so much his nose would be dripping wet!

Tonkinese

The Tonkinese is a mix between the Siamese and the Burmese, hence why I placed them here in the middle of both.

People often say that the Tonkinese is a perfect blend of Burmese and Siamese.  They are neither to aloof like the Siamese, or too shy, like the Burmese, but are just the right mix of both.  Super friendly, social, graceful, and affectionate.  You can’t go wrong with a cutie like that!

 

Burmese

Burmese are often said to be on the more shy side of life, but don’t let that fool you.  They are known for being playful, smart, and extremely cuddly! Not to mention they love belly rubs and will just crumble under your finger caresses.

All of the “ese” breed of cats are some of the best cats you can have.  Their personalities are all unique and so lovable. Anyone who has ever had either of these three will tell you the same!

Maine Coon

For one of the biggest breeds of domestic cats, they surely must come with some super cuddling traits.  You can’t have gorgeous long, soft, fluffy fur without also being awesomely affectionate and cuddly. Maine Coons are known to be both goofy (entertaining) and loving (cuddly).  Hmm, maybe “bigger is better” is correct! More the fluff, more the love.

Sphynx

You would never guess it but the Sphynx cat definitely deserves its place on the list for 10 best cats for cuddling.

Because they have fuzz rather than fur, they are constant heat-seekers.  And guess what, you’re a heat provider.  What does this mean?  This means that if you have a Sphynx cat, you will undoubtedly be receiving tons of cuddles in the morning, afternoon, evening. And -fyi- they will even sleep with you under the covers.  Can I just say that has been my dream growing up?

All my cats have never liked sleeping under the warm covers, but knowing that Sphynx’s love it, I’m putting Sphynx at the top of the list for the next cat I want to have. I even read an article that says experts have proved that Sphynx’s, though not the “prettiest” (I find them irresistibly adorable), are among, actually if not the most affectionate and friendliest of the domestic cats known to man. Whhaat?

Ragdoll

Do you know how these super cute and bright-eyed kitties got their name “Ragdoll?” Imagine picking up a limbless doll when you were a child.  Now think about picking up a warm ball of fur that just goes limp in your arms.  That’s a Ragdoll cat.  I know, so amazing.  These balls of fluff are on every list on the internet for the best cat for cuddles. Affectionate, floppy, cuddly, they basically fit every synonym that describes loving and snuggly.

Devon Rex or Cornish Rex

These two cute alien-resembling little kitties may surprise you. Don’t let their incredible level of intelligence fool you into thinking they are cuddle-less miniature Einsteins.  Quite the contrary.  These slender babes love your affection just as much as you do theirs! They are both unique in their own ways.

It’s often unheard of, but similar to the Sphynx, the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex will insist on sleeping with you in bed under the covers at night. That’s so cute! Though one may be curlier than the other, and the other may be more Whippet-like, they are both blackbelts in the cat cuddling world.

Scottish Fold

My favorite (one of them at least) breed of cat as I believe them to be the super-ultra ultimate embodiment of cuteness. They are not only just amazingly plump, round, and adorable, but they are also soft-spoken, sweet little cuddlers, too!

They bond closely with their owners, which makes them just as fond of loving companionship as you are. Awweee. Next Christmas or Birthday present please!?

Persian

These squished-face cuties are among the most famous breeds of cats.  They have superb and unique characters, personalities, and physical traits. What’s amazing about Persians is that they are fluffy from any angle, making them one of the best lap kitties.  Gentle, sweet, docile, and friendly, it’s not wonder why Persians have soared to the top and reached celebrity status in the cat world.

British Shorthair

This list of the 10 best cats for cuddling just would not be complete without the British Shorthair.  This hunk of a chunk will bring you a life of happiness, joy, and loving cuddles and snuggles. They are easygoing in nature and are quite the calmer breed of cats.  Nonetheless, they adore the affection you give to them and in return are very, very affectionate and loving towards you. British Shorthairs tend to get strongly attached to their owner(s), offering a life of adorable, cuddly cuteness. What’s not to love?
