You see, mama and papa have roots in two countries because of family (papa’s) in Rome, so they are not about to leave me behind on these jaunts.

That said, there’s a huge woowoo monster waiting in the harbour in Barcelona, on which we spend one night and arrive at Civitavecchia on the next evening. Hey, one night. Piece o’ cake, right? Wrong.

Mama even found some little vials of calming drops (BEAPHAR for kitties) that seemed to work.  Emphasis on ‘seemed’….all was well until that monster ship started up.

LOUD SOUNDS. Vibrations (and it’s a big, big ferry), desertion in cabin while anthros go to eat, drink and be merry.

BUT…I do have my little kitty litter bowl tucked into the john, and it IS a junior suite, and there ARE closets to hide in, but…

In the middle of the night I started howling, you know that howl when something is about to happen and your mama wakes up and says, “Loulou, are you okay? What can I do, Loulou? Oh, Loulou, let me help you do whatever it is you need to do.” But at that point, I did it.

Right on mama’s chest in the bed.

My dinner (it was small, thank heaven, because on a ship a kitty should really not eat much-he understands who understands, as they in Italy) landed just under her chin but fortunately, on the washable sheet! 

“Oh, poor Loulou,” mama cried and even called the vet ship to shore to ask if I was okay.

The vet said, give her water and you can tell if she’s dehydrated by lifting her skin and if it feels a bit loose and doesn’t fall back quickly, just give her water. 

And so they did. We landed shortly after and I was fine after a little nap. We drove to Rome from the harbour and I walked in the door and OWNED that place (as usual).

So, “Have Hutzpah, Will Travel” is my new motto. 

Just don’t feed me before the trip, okay?
